Final

1. Participation

Participation has been one of my stronger categories. Every single day when I'm at school I have proper p.e clothes and I even brought it last week when I was not participating just in case. This semester I missed a handful of days because I have been getting sick a lot these past few weeks. The attitude that I bring is energetic, welcoming, and positive. Whenever we choose an activity with the I am inclusive with everyone's ideas and I encourage them to say what they want to do. Also I always go with the activity that was chosen by the majority because it's not fair if we do an activity only a couple people want to do. On fitness days I usually give 100 % and or somewhere close. When I'm in the weight room I always do a proper workout unlike some people that just stand around or sit on a bike but I haven't seen anybody in our class do that. Only one time in the whole year I did a bad job on a fitness day and you talked to me about it but you said I had to do it even though I wanted to do something else but that's shouldn't be any excuse for what I did. I am pretty good at most sports such as soccer I have never been in any soccer league and I rarely play it but I think I play well. the amount of effort I put into the games we play is very good because I am usually  tired and sweaty at the end of the class. On choice days I either play hockey or go to the weight room because those are the things that I use the most energy for and I enjoy both of them. By the way this section was much longer before and my phone stopped working and deleted it all and I had to start from scratch. I think that I deserve a 25 / 25.

2. Social Responsibility and contribution to the class

Social responsibility is pretty good. Am very nice to other people and I'm include all people's ideas when we are deciding what we are going to do. Also I say a bunch of activities we can do because some people are too shy to say it and when I say it they'll say that they want to do it. A couple of classes ago when we were in the small gym I encouraged the only 2 girls with the guys to give some input on what they want to do. When we are setting up an activity I try to help and get the stuff but a lot of the time I'm too late and everyone has gotten all the materials needed for the activities but I try to help in other ways like settling the people down so we can determine the teams. An example is when we play hockey I always help in some way such as getting the sticks, nets, or by settling the boys down so we can determine the teams quickly and start playing fast. When we pick teams I always tell people to not do captains because it sucks to be the last person to be picked. When we play hockey we always have a good player on each team so that the teams are even because it's boring when one team is overpowered.  When we play games I never cheat because I honestly hate it when other people do it and if I cheat I'm no better than those who do cheat. An example is dodge ball which I believe has the highest rate of cheating because some people stay in when they get hit by a ball. When we play games I pass to everyone so they get a chance to play as well.  When it comes to fitness scores I'm very honest because if I'm not honest I'm not getting anything out of it and for me it takes out the purpose of even trying at all. I think that I deserve a 23/25 because I have been pretty honest and inclusive.

3. Healthy Living

My health has gotten a lot better since the beginning of the semester. My fitness scores are a good example. my beeptest score went up by 1.4 levels, my vertical has gone up by 5, my T-test score was 3 seconds less than before, and my plank is 15-20 seconds longer. My diet is pretty good but I have a big sweet tooth. Whenever there are sweets in my house I'm going to eat a lot of them because of my sweet tooth I only like sweet fruits and some vegetables. My mom tries to make me healthy foods by using a wider variety of vegetables so I get more nutrients and she doesn't let me eat out much. I am very active but I don't take pictures of me when I'm doing activities like playing hockey or going to the gym. My goals have changed a lot before I wanted to gain strength all around but now I want to focus more on my upper body because it's not very strong. Ball hockey is a good sport to get better at running because it is so tiring playing it. At the beginning of the semester I got a 9 on the beeptest but because of ball hockey I got 10. This season I hurt myself once and it was a sprained ankle. I was doing many things to gain strength in my ankle but it still isn't 100% even though it's been well over a month but hopefully it will get better soon. A goal I have for the future is to be in good shape and to eat healthier so I can play hockey for years and stay healthy. I think I should get 21/25 because I work quite hard to be healthy.

4. Digital Portfolio and Reflective Skills

This was probably tied for my weakest section. I have large time gaps between my posts but I'm going to do a couple more posts before the year ends. I might not have many posts but they are honest and descriptive. Also I'm going to try to get a couple pictures of me doing some physical activities. I have taken my goals very seriously so I have been very descriptive about it and have changed it multiple times since the beginning of the semester. My picture and video evidence game is weak but I don't know how to post the videos but I don't have many videos of me because I always forget to make videos or pictures because I usually don't have my phone on me because I don't have pockets or I don't want it to break while playing hockey. All my posts are good quality in my opinion and once I finish a few of my drafts I  think I should  18/25. I think that I deserve 87% overall grade because in these last few days I'm going to post more content and evidence.

  1. Gurpal your first two sections are great. You are a super positive and welcoming part of our class. Your fitness scores are decent and you are well rounded as far as sport ability. I definitely didn't have to worry about your behaviour or strip when you were here but you missed a few classes. I also gave you an A in these sections. I think the area you can grow the most is in the active participation and learning about your own body and your sporting/diet needs. You have begun the process but didn't have much evidence in your blog and what you did include was very superficial. As an athlete your success will be in large part to your own understanding of your body. Evan has a trainer helping him but you can research a lot on your own too about hockey specific workouts and diets for highly active athletes (very different than for weight loss goals etc). I have you as a C for the last two sections and a 75 overall. I will split the difference to 81 overall and I think that is fair. An "A" would have been achievable with a concerted effort to learn and record your learning on your blog. Check out Hemat's early efforts to educate himself about his needs. He has links and new strategies for himself after doing some research. I enjoyed having you in class, and so did your class mates. I encourage you to take control of WHY you are choosing certain foods and exercises be educating yourself. Enjoy your summer.
